Beirut - Arab Today
MP Sami Gemayel said in a press conference on Monday that the State's "performance as it is shall not continue; we feel that Lebanon has lost its sovereignty completely and has given up on its decision in full, as happened in the mountains [battles]."
"There is a clear attempt to disrupt the elections, and we are beginning to hear talks about its postponement under different excuses," he said, deeming the biometric card pretext a scandal added to the many scandals committed by the political forces in power.
He stressed that "the solution lies in conducting the by-elections and then sticking to the dates of the parliamentary elections and dropping the biometric card."
On a different note, Gemayel said "letting the enemies of Lebanon leave the Lebanese territory without punishment is akin to smuggling an enemy. This operation was covered because the decision is not in your [the State's] hands."
The MP warned against interfering in the work of the Constitutional Council and hindering its work, and appealed to "students of Lebanon and leaders of the public opinion and the media to reject the oppression we are living in."
Calling on the public opinion to revolt, Gemayel said "accountability is in the upcoming parliamentary elections. The people to be elected ought to be up to the ambitious of the Lebanese people, and this begins now."
He announced offering solutions to taxes that harm neither the economy nor the citizens, accusing the people in power of acting like a mafia
