HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Athletic Federation congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa on the occasion of the victory of Bahrain Endurance 13 Team.
The team won both men and women categories of the 2017 Ironman 70.3 World Championship held in Chattanooga, USA.
HH also congratulated HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa, the Prime Minister, HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee and Captain of Bahrain Endurance 13 Team, and the people of Bahrain.
Led by HH Shaikh Nasser, Bahrain Endurance 13 Team players competed against 3,000 of the best triathletes of the world. Team member Javier Gomez won the men's championship while his teammate Daniela Ryf won the women's title.
HH Shaikh Khalid expressed his pride in the team's achievement, showing a great performance in a reputed international championship such as the Ironman 70.3. He valued the efforts of HH Shaikh Nasser to support Bahraini sports and promote endurance sports in the Kingdom and the region.
HH Shaikh Khalid said: "This international victory today adds to the achievements of the team and Bahrain. It enhances the presence of Bahrain in global sports events, reflecting positively on the Kingdom's position in international sports arenas. This victory reinforces that Bahrain is a country that embraces all sports and supports its practitioners in a way that serves the advancement of Bahraini sports and contributes to achieve more honorable results in various forums and international participations. We wish more success for the team in its future participations and for the Kingdom of Bahrain."
