Interior Minister praises coastguard naval drill.

Interior Minister Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa attended today the conclusion of the naval exercise of the Coast Guard (the Vigilant Guard 6) which was held with the participation of various directorates and security units, including the Special Security Force, Police Aviation, the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science and police directorates.

The exercise aimed to evaluate the preparedness, especially in sea border protection and search and rescue operations. The event started with a speech by the Coast Guard Commander, Major-General Alaa Siyadi, in which he expressed thanks and appreciation to the Interior Minister for patronising the final ceremony. He said that it was a result of the ongoing support of the Interior Minister to develop all departments of the Interior Ministry and their capabilities to deal with all security threats.

The Interior Minister was briefed about the exercise and its scenarios and phases. He hailed the competency of the Coast Guard and other participating forces, in addition to their cooperation in planning and implementing the event. He said that this professional exercise represented the accumulated expertise and efforts to provide the Coast Guard with skilled manpower and high-tech equipment and systems that are based on the latest international standards.

He highlighted the importance to continue with such remarkable exercises to discover the strong and weak points in the joint field security work. He directed the participants to continue with their hard and sincere work and commitment to the law and wished them all the best in serving the nation.
At the end of the exercise, Chief of Public Security, Major-General Tariq Al Hassan expressed thanks and appreciation to the Interior Minister for his directives to adopt advanced development strategy for the security system. (MOI)
