Interior Minister Magdi Abdel Ghaffar underlined on Wednesday the importance of beefing up police presence on streets to enforce law and detect violations that endanger citizens' life.
During a meeting with his security aides, Abdel Ghaffar called for removing all traffic obstructions within the framework of law, increasing number of patrols and using latest technology to guarantee more road monitoring.
He called for making more tests on drivers to see whether they are driving under the effect of drugs or alcohol.
He also called for stepping up campaigns to raise citizens' awareness of the importance of abiding by traffic regulations.
Earlier in the day, Abdel Ghaffar gave orders, banning the movement of trucks on Suez and Ismailia roads in both directions from 6:00 am to 9:00 am and from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
The decision is effective on all trucks except those loaded with petroleum materials and supply commodities.
The decision came after Tuesday's collision between a school bus and a truck that left four persons dead and 21 others injured.
