Head of the Democratic Gathering, MP Walid Jumblatt, refused to normalize ties with Syria, saying "we will not accept a return to the Lebanese-Syrian relations as it was during the guardianship period."

Touching on his relationship with Prime Minister Saad Hariri, Jumblatt said "the relationship with Hariri is fraught with substantive gaps on certain issues and over previous stances."

Jumblatt added that the Lebanese government should have a unified stance
