Kataeb Party Political Bureau discussed in its weekly meeting chaired by the party's leader, MP Sami Gemayel, the latest developments at the domestic scene. The following statement was issued in the wake of the meeting:

"First: Kataeb Party leader, Sami Gemayel, briefed the political bureau on the atmosphere of his talks with Saudi leaders in Jeddah, where he stressed adherence to the sovereign principles and neutrality of Lebanon, and keenness on closer relations with the Arab and Gulf countries.

Second, the Party holds the political authority responsible for not speeding up the development of an integrated plan that will allow the immediate return of Syrian refugees to their country, since their presence is a security, economic and social burden.

Third, Kataeb Party considers the return of refugees a priority that must be taken out of the political context, calling upon the relevant international organizations to assist in achieving this end in order to preserve the country's sovereignty, security, and stability.

Fourth, Kataeb Party warns the political authority against violating the law and the constitution whenever their political and financial interests do not comply with the law and constitutional provisions. It calls for the adoption of a budget according to the constitution, including all necessary reforms to stop financial expenditures and to control public spending.

On the subject of taxes, Kataeb Party refuses to re-impose taxes on low-income people instead of seeking the best means to halt corruption
