Kuwait reiterates rejection of all forms of terrorism

The State of Kuwait has reiterated its firm stand of rejecting all forms of terrorism and extremism regardless of their causes, motives and sources, stressing that promotion of the culture of tolerance and coexistence among peoples and nations is one of the priorities of its domestic and foreign policy.

This came in Kuwait's speech during the 6th legal committee meeting of the 72nd round of the United Nations General Assembly on the elimination of international terrorism, which was delivered by the Third Secretary of Kuwait's Permanent Delegation to the United Nations, Bashar Abdullah Al-Muwaizri, last night.

Kuwait News Agency quoted Al-Muwaizri as saying, "Terrorism remains a serious threat in many parts of the world and threatens international peace and security. The State of Kuwait condemns terrorism in all its forms. It is a criminal act that is unjustifiable and should not be linked to any religion, nationality, civilisation or ethnic group."

The fight against terrorism requires concerted international efforts to counter this scourge by taking measures to ensure respect for human rights and the rule of law and to address the conditions conducive to its spread by eradicating poverty and promoting sustainable development and good governance. It also necessitates peaceful co-existence among religions, respect for their symbols and sanctities, non-incitement to hatred and rejection of all manifestations of extremism and violence, he added.
