The State of Kuwait has announced that it will host an irregular session of the general conference for the Arab League Educational, Culture and Sciences Organisation, ALECSO, as agreed upon during by the body's executive council, on Thursday.
Kuwait News Agency quoted the Kuwait Undersecretary at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Haitham Al-Athari, as saying that the country is eager to contribute to ALECSO's vision 2030, which aims at developing education throughout the Arab world.
The meeting's focus will be electing a new Director-General for the organisation after the passing away of former head, Dr. Abdullah Al-Muhareb, said the official, who indicated that the Ministry of Education, in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry of Kuwait, would nominate an official for the post.
Tunisian-based ALECSO was established in July, 1970. The organisation has some 22-member countries who work together for better education and culture in the Arab region.
