President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) and Speaker of Kuwait's National Assembly Marzouq Al-Ghanim chaired a meeting of the Arab Group in the Parliamentary Union of the OIC
(PUIC).
The National Assembly Speaker started his address at the meeting, praising Iraq for hosting the PUIC conference, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
He also lauded the Iraqi parliament Speaker Salim Al-Jabouri for his warm welcome of the participating delegations. He declared agenda of the meeting, including election of representatives of the Arab Group in the PUIC permanent committees, and shortly later ordered suspension of the session for 10 minutes to enable participants hold deliberations
The conferees, after resumption of the session, elected by consensus Algeria, Lebanon, Sudan and Saudi Arabia as members of the executive committee. Mauritania, Palestine, Morocco and the UAE were chosen for the
commission of political affairs and external relations.
Morocco, Bahrain, Iraq and Djibouti were given membership in the committee of economic affairs and environment. Mauritania, Jordan, Kuwait and Tunisia for the committee of human rights, women and family, while Syria, Oman, Egypt and Libya for the cultural affairs committee. Then, Al-Ghanim called off the session, KUNA reported Saturday.
