Labour Ministry's equal opportunities unit convenes.

The Equal Opportunities Unit at the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, formed as per an edict issued by Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, held its first meeting, under the chairmanship of Undersecretary, Sabah Salim Al-Dossari.

 

The undersecretary lauded the pivotal role played by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), in promoting the gender equal opportunities principle, advancing Bahraini women and integrating their need in development.

Thanks to HRH Princess Sabeeka’s interest and the efforts of the SCW, Bahraini women’s status have been advanced socially and economically, and their participation, productivity and distinction at the labour market have improved.

The panel reviewed plans to implement the equal opportunities principle in the all fields related to labour and social development, in coordination with the SCW and the Civil Service Bureau.

It also expressed its resolve to implement more initiatives aimed at achieving equal opportunities in all the Ministry’s sectors.

The Labour and Social Development Ministry was among the first ministries to set up an Equal Opportunities Unit in 2011.
