Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gebran Bassil, traveled from Montreal, Canada, to Atlanta, USA, on a first visit for a Lebanese official to this State. He attended a Mass at the Church of St. Joseph, in the presence of a number of members of the Lebanese Diaspora.


The Foreign Minister attended, upon the invitation of the Lebanese Embassy in Washington, a luncheon hosted at the Crowne Plaza Premier with the participation of a crowd of Lebanese residing in Atlanta.


The Foreign Minister made a statement in which he stressed that Lebanon would be nothing without its expatriates.
"Lebanon is your identity; do not lose it. You can restore your nationality today, we have set the necessary mechanisms and it is our duty to link you to your motherland."


"Lebanon has been able to stand up to terrorism and displacement and to maintain its unity," he told his audience, assuring that one of the main achievements made recently was the adoption of an electoral law that guarantees bring forth major reforms, among which the electronic balloting.


"Lebanon will remain a humanitarian value. If we lose it, God forbid, humanity will lose a unique model," he said
