Interior and Municipalities Minister, Nouhad Machnouk, on Friday met with the British Ambassador to Lebanon, Hugo Shorter, who praised the Lebanese army's performance in its recent battle against terrorism in the Ras Baalbek and Qaa.
Ambassador Shorter stressed his government's continued support to the military, in terms of equipment and training, especially at the eastern borders.
As for the forthcoming parliamentary elections, Ambassador Shorter inquired about the Interior Ministry's plan and preparations in this regard.
Discussions also focused on means to strengthen security measures at the Rafic Hariri International Airport. In this context, the diplomat reiterated his country's readiness to provide all necessary support to the Lebanese Ministry of the Interior and the Internal Security Forces.
On the other hand, Minister Machnouk met with the Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon, Nazih al-Najjari, with talks reportedly touching on issues of mutual concern
