UAE Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development and Chairperson of Abu Dhabi Media Company Noura Al Kaabi today highlighted the need for UAE media to focus on creating quality content.
Speaking at a session titled ‘Media Innovation A Futuristic Vision’ during the fourth annual Emirati Media Forum organised by the Dubai Press Club, Noura Al Kaabi spoke about how the rise of social media has led to the creation of some influencers who do not have a significant message to deliver. "Our country has successfully invested in the development of media infrastructure, it’s now time to invest in media content," Al Kaabi said.
She said that content should be developed by specialised people by taking into consideration the needs of the public and the local culture.
Al Kaabi also said that the emergence of large media platforms like Facebook and Twitter has led to an environment where content is often delivered without considering its ethical aspects.
She said that value of local media market reached US$2 billion and is on the rise - a development that requires implementation of the sound strategy to make a paradigm shift towards the future.
