Minister of State inaugurates 'Young Arab Media Leaders Programme'

Shamma bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, today inaugurated the Young Arab Media Leaders Programme, as part of the Arab Youth Media Initiative that aims to prepare the next generation of the brightest Arab media talents, under the patronage and directives of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

Al Mazrui welcomed the youth participating in the programme while expressing her confidence in their capacities and passion, which are the key motivation for the Arab Youth Centre to serve the youth, highlight their talents and provide them with the opportunities they deserve to support their development and promote their role in the community.

She added that the Young Arab Media Leaders Programme aims to highlight youth talents interested in working in the media and connect them to prominent media leaders, scholars and journalists, who will supervise the programme’s content and share their knowledge.

The programme is also a platform that reflects the passion and ambitions of the youth and their desire to establish a positive environment and convey accurate and transparent media content, she said.

Al Mazrui also highlighted the importance of being up to date with the rapid developments taking place in the media, which requires the drafting of future plans to positively benefit from these changes.

The programme’s activities, which will continue until 26th November, 2017, will include workshops and various debates, lectures and seminars, as well as field visits to leading media institutions in the region.

Featured topics will cover the role of digital and interactive media, and the impact of social media on forming and influencing opinions.
