Ministry of Community Development to participate in AccessAbilities Expo

The Ministry of Community Development will participate in AccessAbilities Expo 2017, which will be held from 7th to 9th November at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The expo will showcase a number of assistive devices and smart applications to empower and support people of determination.

The participation of the Ministry of Community Development in the AccessAbilities Expo, which is being organised under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, is a reflection of its efforts to raise awareness in the community about the ministry’s role in supporting people of determination and enabling them to achieve stability, while facilitating their total integration in the community.

The AccessAbilities Expo is considered an opportunity for people of determination to meet with several organisations that can support them, and view prominent products, services and technologies related to the disabilities and rehabilitation sectors.

The ministry stressed that the AccessAbilities Expo would contribute in viewing and benefitting from the experiences of international companies that are demonstrating the most important technologies and smart solutions, which will play an important role in supporting and providing stability to people of determination, so that their lives become more flexible and they can perform tasks independently, without facing hurdles.

During its participation in the AccessAbilities Expo, the ministry will demonstrate its experience in empowering and supporting people of determination through the Moeen Centre for Assistive Technology.

It will also showcase several assistive devices provided by the Moeen Centre to empower people of determination in their daily lives, as well as its smart applications, such as the Tawasol (communication) application.

The Tawasol application helps communicate with autistic children, as well as those having trouble communicating and interacting with people around them. Taking into consideration that children with autism are visual learners, the application uses pictures in the process of communication. Besides Tawasol, the centre will also demonstrate the Qesas Ana Wa Akhi (My Brother and I Stories) application, Al Sana’a (craft) application, and community stories.
