The Human Rights department at the Ministry of Interior has organised a lecture, titled, "The UAE and Human Rights: Implementing the Highest International Standards," as part of the International Human Rights Day celebrations, to promote the culture of respecting and protecting human rights.
Colonel Dr. Ahmed Yussuf Al Mansouri, member of the Human Rights Committee at the Ministry of Interior, delivered the lecture where he discussed the UAE’s efforts to protect and promote human rights on national and international levels, as well as its successes in related international indexes.
"The UAE has been keen, since its establishment, to respect and promote human rights and ensure its place in the constitution and national legislation, through the adoption of the highest international standards and the ratification of many international human rights conventions," he added.
He also highlighted the ministry’s efforts to support and protect human rights and promote its culture among its staff, while emphasisng the importance of educating them about human rights laws and legislation.
Following the lecture, a documentary film was shown about the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the creator of the UAE's civilisation, as well as another film on global human rights.
The lecture was attended by department directors, a number of officers, and the Ministry of Interior employees.
