Al Ain - Arab Today
Al Ain National Museum and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi have organised a series of unique public tours for both residents and tourists to experience and learn about the history and heritage of the United Arab Emirates.
The tours offer the public an exploratory view of old houses and architecture in Al Ain, showcasing the building styles adopted by early Emirati residents. The Al Ain National Museum tour guides also lead discussions on the natural materials used to build the houses, and the lifestyle and traditions that were popular during the period the houses were built, immersing visitors in a unique experience of the past.
Beginning at 9am and departing from Al Ain National Museum the tour passes through seven historical and cultural sites in Al Ain from Al Ain Oasis, Al Qubaisi House, Qattara Historic Buildings, and Qattara Arts Centre, Souk and a number of historic houses and buildings in Al Jimi and Al Qattara such as Bait AKhalfan, Saif Bin Abdullah Al Dhaheri, Bait Bin Badwah, Bait Abdullah bin Salem Al Darmaki and Sultan Aldermaki.
Al Ain is one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited settlements, fusing the spirit of the past with a lively and contemporary vision for the future. The full cultural programme highlights Al Ain as the cultural heartland of the Emirate and the home to the UAE’s only UNESCO World Heritage site.
