Nahyan bin Mubarak: Khalifa Award for Education spreads culture

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, has affirmed the influence that the Khalifa Award for Education has had on spreading a culture of excellence in the education sector.

Sheikh Nahyan’s praise came during a meeting held today with Amal Al Afifi, Secretary-General of the Khalifa Award for Education, and other award representatives.

The award aims to promote the educational field in the UAE and the Arab world through encouraging and motivating creative and outstanding individuals working in the field.

The minister went on to say, "Whether in primary, secondary or tertiary education, both at a state level and across the Arab world, the UAE’s leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum , His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of Emirates, have played an influential role in prioritising and developing educational processes through various initiatives and projects that promote creativity and innovation in education systems."

Sheikh Nahyan also praised the tremendous support given by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Khalifa Award for Education.

During the meeting, Amal Al Afifi, presented a brief overview of the award categories for the 2017-2018 academic year, which includes ‘Public Education’, ‘Creative Knowledge Networks’, and ‘Education and Community Service’, among others.

She also briefed Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak on the latest award category, ‘The UAE Family’, which aims to honour an Emirati family that promotes national identity and education in the hearts of its children, encouraging the development of positive individuals with high cultural and educational values.

At the end of the meeting, Al Afifi presented Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan with a plaque in recognition of his pioneering efforts to advance the award’s stature and prestige.
