MP Nabil Nicolas said on Friday that Lebanon has managed to surpass successive political crises, denouncing "the attack against Lebanese sovereignty through Prime Minister Saad Hariri."

"The attack against Lebanese sovereignty through the Prime Minister is not accepted neither by President of the Republic Michel Aoun, nor by the Lebanese people," Nicolas said in an interview with the Voice of Lebanon radio station.

As for Hariri's resignation, Nicolas explained that it was necessary to await the return of the latter to Lebanon for appropriate decisions to be taken.

"If Hariri insists on resigning, then parliamentary consultations will be launched," he added.

"There are many Sunni personalities who can be appointed to form a new government if Hariri refuses to revoke his resignation," Nicolas explained.

Touching on Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir's remarks yesterday, Nicolas said, "Arab countries cannot leave Lebanon alone and then threaten it with the implementation of the Taef Agreement."

"Let them give us a second solution concerning Hezbollah's weapons if such a solution exists. Lebanon cannot bear all these burdens alone if Arab countries do not support it," he said.

"Nothing can be imposed on Lebanon and everything could be settled through dialogue," Nicolas added
