The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) backed the sovereignty of members countries, rejecting any interference in their internal affairs.
In a statement today, it highlighted the United Nations (UN) Charter which stipulates equal sovereignty between all member countries.
The Jeddah-based organization said that its covenant, which was amended in the Islamic summit which was held in March 2008 in Dakar, Senegal, stipulates the right of self-determination and non-interference in the internal affairs of member countries as well as respect for their sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
