Beirut - Arab Today
The intense overnight clashes between Bilal Badr group on one side and the Palestinian joint forces and Fatah movement on the other continued well into Saturday morning, with gunshots and rockets clearly heard across the refugee camp.
One man, identified as Moussa Al Kharbeete, from the joint forces was killed, while nine others were wounded.
Schools in the camp's vicinity kept their doors closed today for the sake of safety. The Lebanese army, on the other hand, took strict security measures at the gates of the Palestinian camp.
Fatah Movement and the joint Palestinian forces decided to put an end to Badr's stronghold and deploy their forces, in accordance with an agreed upon security plan.
The clashes were triggered Friday afternoon when a group of Badr's supporters attacked members of the joint forces during their deployment near the vegetable market.
