Deputy Amine Wehbe on Friday ruled out claims that the tax amendments had targeted the owners of limited income, affirming that the amendments have taken into consideration the observations of the Constitutional Council.


"The Salary scale has become a vested right that entails securing funding resources in line with the vision of the Constitutional Council to avoid any challenge, and so that it could be decisively endorsed and implemented," Wehbe said.


Interviewed by the Voice of Lebanon radio station, the lawmaker said that there was an agreement within the government to approve the budget of 2017 and to put things on the track of account auditing as soon as possible.


"This paves the way for an easy budget in 2018 en route to the regulation of public finances and institutional activity."


In response to a question, he emphasized that there was consensus on the need to complete the parliamentary elections on time with or without the biometric card.
