Michał Murkociński, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to Egypt, asserted that Egypt is a key country in the international efforts to combat terrorism.
Interviewed by MENA, Murkocinski said Warsaw attached great importance to stability of Egypt, noting that the security situation in Egypt would be improving by time in view of the international consensus to combat terrorism of Daesh especially in Syria and Iraq.
The ambassador said he handed over an invitation from the Polish deputy premier to Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Qabil and the minister of agriculture to visit Warsaw to discuss means of enhancing economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, asserting the importance of pumping more investments to the Suez Canal Development Corridor.
The coming phase would witness the convocation of political consultations between Egypt and Poland, the diplomat said, adding that Polish officials will take part in the upcoming meeting between the European Union and the Arab League, set for April 21.
He also asserted the importance of the recent talks held between Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Polish counterpart Witold Waszczykowski in Munich which tackled bilateral and international issues of common interest.
The diplomat also said a number of Polish companies will take part in the Food Africa Exhibition that will be held in Cairo on May 4.
The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Poland stood at dlrs 500 million in 2015, the ambassador said, adding that Warsaw was really interested in encouraging the Egyptian side to increase their exports to the Polish market.
He made it clear that the Polish Foreign Ministry did not issue any travel warning against travel to Egypt, but the Polish tourism movement to Egypt decreased because travelers are using various airlines to come to Egypt. The number of Polish tourists coming to Egypt hit 250,000 in the past year.
He also said he discussed with Egyptian Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou a proposal to operate direct flights between Cairo and Warsaw.
