The Council of Representatives has condemned and denounced the terrorist attack that targeted an oil pipeline in Buri, as well as Iran’s blatant interference and support of terrorism in Bahrain and the region.

In a statement issued during today’s regular session, chaired by Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla and devoted to discussing the Buri terror blast, the Council strongly condemned the terrorist attack which caused an explosion in an oil pipeline, resulting in spreading panic among citizens and residents, damaging economic interests and vital installations, harming houses and disrupting public and private interests.

The statement stressed that the criminal terror act was carried out by a misguided group who lack religious feelings, conscience and patriotism.

The Council stressed that as part of its patriotic role to defend and protect the security of the nation and the citizens, and in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to give top priority to fighting and defeating terrorism so that the kingdom remains an oasis of security and stability, and given the the importance of continuing cooperation between the Legislature and the Executive to optimise achievements that support the democratic process, it demands that the maximum penalty be inflicted on those guilty of involvement in the terrorist incident and those who support them.

The statement affirmed that Iran’s interference in the kingdom’s domestic affairs, as proved by the Buri pipeline terrorist explosion, and its keenness to deliver all kinds of support to terrorists through training and funding to ignite sedition and spread chaos, which resulted in the death of 22 policeman and the injury of 3452 others since the regretful events of 2011, require an effective Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Arab and international response to take all measures that preserve the kingdom’s security and stability and ensure respect for its sovereignty and independence, in light of Tehran’s flagrant practices.

The Council called for the need to take deterrent and firm measures to put an end to Iran’s expansionist plans and plots against Bahrain and the region, citing the Houthi militia’s targeting of the Saudi capital, Riyadh, by an Iran-made ballistic missile.

The statement stressed that the Buri pipeline terror attack is a dangerous escalation that should be confronted by all necessary legal measures, voicing full-fledged support for the efforts of the Interior Ministry and the Judiciary to impose the state of the law and institutions and take legal actions against whoever seeks to tamper with the country’s security and to terrorise citizens and residents.

The Council lauded the Bahraini peoples’ patriotism, stressing that Bahraini citizens have set the best examples of unity, cohesion and cooperation in the face of terrorist threats to ensure that the kingdom remains a land for co-existence, tolerance and security forever.

The Council valued highly the leadership’s directives to the Interior Ministry, Bapco and the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning to beef up security of oil pipelines and to identify the damaged houses and repair them immediately, as well as to the Northern Governorate to follow up on the needs of the local citizens and to the security authorities to take swift and effective measures to ensure the security of the citizens.

The Council extended deepest thanks and gratitude to the Saudi government, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, for the prompt cooperation of the relevant Saudi authorities in dealing with the terrorist incident, resulting in the resumption of oil supplies between the two countries in record time
