The Saudi Royal Naval Forces started on Tuesday maneuvers called Gulf Shield 1 Exercise in the Arabian Gulf waters./

Units of the Saudi Security Forces will take part in the first joint Gulf-wide exercise of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states in Bahrain, said the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Monday.

The drill, set to take place from October 25 to November 17, will be in implementation of resolutions of the 16th consultative meeting of the GCC member states' ministers of interior, held in Doha, April 29, 2015.

"The exercise which will take place under the motto of Arab Gulf Security 1, is set to witness participation of specialized anti-terrorism security formations, protection of land and sea borders, installations and public and economic utilities, supported by various multi-purpose mechanisms, gunboats, several units, a number of aircraft dedicated for security-related operations, in addition to equipment, weapons and other necessary appliances, as well," said the interior ministry in a statement.
