Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud stressed the importance of close cooperation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia in order to strike a balance in the region and serve Arab causes, topped by the Palestinian cause.
He also said that the close cooperation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia contributes to combating terrorism and promoting bilateral economic cooperation, especially after the signing of several agreements between the two countries.
The Saudi king made the remarks during his speech before a general session of the House of Representatives on Sunday.
Saudi King Salman bin Abdlaziz bin al Saud voiced happiness for visiting the House of Representatives HQ, saying that it has contributed to promoting historical ties binding Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
He, meanwhile, said that serving the Arab causes, topped by the Palestinian cause, requires unity and close cooperation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia to attain balance instead of distraction.
The joint action makes the Arab nation stronger through determining clear-cut mechanisms, he added.
Egypt and Saudi Arabia have an important opportunity for cooperation in the economic sphere, he said, adding that he witnessed the signing of several memorandums of understanding and investment deals during his current visit to Egypt.
He also pointed out to the agreement on the establishment of a bridge that will link Saudi Arabia to Egypt.
This bridge will link the Asian and African continents and will be a gate to promote economic opportunities in Egypt and provide a crossing for pilgrims, he went on to say.
He further said that the bridge will also contribute to providing jobs, adding that an agreement was also reached to build a free trade zone in North Sinai.
Saudi Arabia is keen on unifying viewpoints and working to confront terrorism and establishing a joint Arab force, he added.
