Sharjah Consultative Council Chairperson presents UAE experience

Khawla Abdul Rahman Al Mulla, Chairperson of the Sharjah Consultative Council, SCC, has commended the UAE leadership's model of the youth empowerment, with a view to upgrade capacities of young people seen as present and tomorrow builders.

This came in a working paper presented by Al Mulla during her participation in the Arab Youth Forum, organised by the Arab Youth Council for Integrated Development of the League of Arab States in the Egyptian city of Luxor.

The event was attended by Dr. Mufid Al Shehab, Chairman of the Forum, Dr. Musheera Aboul Ghali, General Coordinator of the Forum, and participating Arab and Gulf delegations.

Al Mulla called in her paper - which addressed the current challenges in the Arab region and priorities of the Sustainable Development Plan 2030 - for Arab societies to listen to young people and to cooperate more with them, as well as encourage them to participate in the decision- making. "This is the vision and approach of the UAE leadership to upgrade the youth," she said.

She cited a model of young Emirati woman, Nora Al Karbi, a doctoral student at University of Granada, Spain. Al Mulla described her as an exemplary representation of the UAE in terms of continuous learning and good conduct. She invited her to speak in front of the audience in Spanish to demonstrate her experience as an Emirati girl.

Al Mulla's paper also covered the Arab situation, concept of sustainable development and its dimensions and orientations, as well as the strategy of the Emirate of Sharjah as a model for sustainability.
