The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces held a meeting on Wednesday under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi with the participation of Defense Minister Sedqi Sobhi and other high-ranking officers.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Sisi greeted the Egyptian people on the 44th anniversary of the 6th of October War.
He also paid tribute to Egypt's servicemen, who sacrificed their souls for Egypt.
"The 6th of October War is not just a military triumph, but it is a victory over despair and frustration," Sisi said in a speech to the Egyptian people.
"The war has never been our target, but we mainly sought to bring about peace," he said, adding that the 6th of October War was waged to bring about peace and development and restore Egypt's looted lands.
"Over 40 years, the Egyptian people have proved that they are capable of maintaining the march of development and stability and foiling a plot to undermine Egypt's security and stability," the president said .
He also lauded great sacrifices offered by the Egyptian people and servicemen to defeat terrorism and rebuild the Egyptian state.
Following Sisi's speech, the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces reviewed the latest security developments at the domestic and regional levels as well as efforts exerted to control borders and eliminate terrorist groups in North Sinai.
