Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa has re-emphasized the role of political societies and their contribution to the Kingdom’s steady democratic progress.
Legal action was taken only against political societies which had instigated and supported terrorism and violence and were dissolved by the competent court rulings, Shaikh Khalid told Bahrain News Agency (BNA).
He pointed out that feigning a valid political action with the aim of destabilizing the Kingdom’s security was one of the main tools of hostile external interference.
The minister highlighted the political societies role through their effective presence and constructive contribution in the various national activities. There are 16 political societies currently registered, he added.
He said that Bahrain ensures the freedom to form political associations in compliance with the rule of law.
