Southern Governor, HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, today visited the Camping Service Centre, where he launched a safety awareness campaign for campers.

The campaign is in line with the governor’s keenness on putting in place all the safety requirements for the campers and the visitors of the desert.

Being among the multiple and diverse initiatives taken to ensure the safety of campers from all age categories, the campaign aims to address all phenomena and behaviours in order protect the safety of the campers and their property.

Upon arrival, the governor was welcomed by the Southern Police Director-General, officers and officials.

HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali was informed about the on-going preparations for the campaign, including leaflets, as well as guiding and awareness-raising boards, focusing on fire prevention, traffic rules and safety instructions for the family, stressing that the ultimate goal is ensure the comfort and safety of all campers.

HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali also witnessed practical aspects of the campaign, including the launch of a field training session on the best ways to deal with fire cares, which the Camping Service Centre will continue holding in cooperation with the General Directorate of Civil Defence.

The governor lauded the noble goals of such training sessions and their effective role in raising campers’ awareness and reducing the effects of fire incidents.

He also visited a motorcycle rental facility, where he met its staff and inspected the safety equipment and the forms to be signed by renters including their commitment to the safety requirements, which is an initiative launched by the Southern Governorate in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.

The governor asserted that awareness-raising efforts will continue through many other initiatives, including the formation of a governorate work team which will be tasked with following up on all emergency cases, advice for campers and regular visits to camps.
