Moscow - TASS
Syrian air defense units downed several "hostile targets" above Al-Kiswah, the southwestern suburb of the capital Damascus, late on Thursday, the state-run SANA news agency reported.
"Our missile defenses opened fire at hostile targets and downed several of them above the southern outskirts of the capital," the agency quoted an unnamed military source as saying.
"Air defense units continue to engage hostile targets south of Damascus, shooting them down," SANA said.
According to the Syrian government’s TV channel, all missiles have been intercepted.
Earlier in the day, the Al Hadath TV reported that Israeli air forces had attacked Iranian military facilities near Damascus. The press service of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) refused to comment on Arab media reports about the attack.
"We don’t comment on foreign media reports," an IDF spokesperson told TASS by phone.
The latest attack on Al-Kiswah took place in April, when Syrian air defense crews downed 13 missiles.
