Abu Dhabi - Arab Today
Tadweer, the Waste Management Centre - Abu Dhabi, recently arranged a media round table to discuss public health pest-control projects in the presence of several media representatives, during which a number of Tadweer’s significant awareness projects in the public health pest-control field were presented and discussed in an effort to promote public awareness and re-enforce public knowledge on the importance of pest-control.
Speaking of the event, Mohammed Al Marzouqi, Pest-Control Project Director at Tadweer, said, "At Tadweer, we work on providing pest-control services through the comprehensive application of control systems and use of the best certified and globally-adopted practices. We also advise the community about the basics of pest prevention to ensure a healthy, sustainable future for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi," saying that pests and insects are living organisms whose lifecycle and spread rate depend on our lifestyle, the climate condition, the availability of food sources and other factors that help it reproduce and spread in large numbers.
Al Marzouqi added, "Tadweer’s role is not limited to practical pest-control or consequence intervention after the problem takes place, but precedes it through proactive plans that develop methods of control, quality assurance and pest-fighting, including the preparation of periodic programmes and emergency plans to be activated in case of a sudden increase of a certain pest due to climate conditions or global pest-transmitted diseases."
Tadweer also works to increase the efficiency of pest-control workers and service providers by attracting experts to training workshops and learning about the latest methods and globally-adopted pest-control technologies by attending international conferences and seminars.
Tadweer offers a wide range of services through public health pest-control management, including regular pest-control services in UAE residences, streets, government facilities, schools, hospitals, public clinics, mosques, public parks, and markets, as well as central sewage and waste collection points in all residential, commercial and industrial areas.
Also available are the 'irregular' pest-control services, requisitioned on public demand, including internal and external fumigation and extermination of all types of pests, such as mosquitoes, flies, rodents or cockroaches, and any harmful pests such as snakes, scorpions, spiders, bees and wasps. Pest-control management also provides animal collection services for all types and sizes of stray animals. The public can request these services by calling the Abu Dhabi Government Contact Centre, at 800555.
