Saqr Nasser Al Raisi, UAE Ambassador to Italy, has participated in a seminar titled "Partners for a Sustainable Peace in Yemen", which was organised by the Saudi embassy in Rome.
The participants expressed their concern over the humanitarian situation in Yemen. Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Advisor at the Saudi Royal Court and General Supervisor at King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, pointed out the importance of cooperation of all in supporting relief and humanitarian work in Yemen.
He also presented figures reflecting the suffering of Yemeni people and the size of the huge assistance provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the brotherly Yemeni people, which has exceeded US$8 billion since 2015.
Abdul Raqeeb Fath, the Minister of Local Administration in Yemen, emphasised the importance of working in the relief sector in Yemen within the strategy of decentralisation, due to its positive results in achieving greater guarantee and reducing costs. He added that it will also limit the risk of seizing and exploiting aid by the Houthis to achieve their political and military gains.
Italian Senator Nicola Latorre, Chairman of the Italian Senate's Defense Committee, praised the Italian-Saudi friendship and their humanitarian efforts. He condemned the recent ballistic missile attack on Riyadh, and expressed his hope to restore peace, security, and legitimacy in Yemen.
The seminar was attended by a number of Arab and foreign ambassadors, diplomats, politicians, and journalists.
