UAE participates in 68th International Astronautical Congress in Australia

An official delegation from the UAE Space Agency and the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, led by Dr. Ahmad bin Abdulla Humaid Belhoul AlFalasi, Minister of State for Higher Education and the Chairman of the agency’s Board of Directors, presented eight research papers and academic studies highlighting the successes of the Emirati space sector during their participation in the 68th International Astronautical Congress in Adelaide, Australia.

Al Falasi stressed the importance of the UAE’s participation in the congress, as part of the strategic plans of the UAE Space Agency to enhance mutual co-operation and efforts with the international space community to promote the UAE’s role in this sector. The congress provided an ideal opportunity to develop further relations with the country’s strategic partners on an international level, he added.

Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Ahbabi, Director-General of the UAE Space Agency, explained the importance of participating in the congress, due to the ever-changing nature of space sciences while highlighting the agency’s desire to provide the national space sector with the most advanced international technologies, which is reflected by its current and future projects and in line with its strategic plans.

Dr. Al Ahbabi also mentioned the agency’s numerous scientific initiatives and discovery programmes, which enable it to keep pace with the latest international space discoveries.

The annual International Astronautical Congress is organised by the International Astronautical Federation, and the UAE Space Agency became a member of the federation last year.
