Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi

Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance, has stressed that the UAE leadership, government and people believe that the value of tolerance is the backbone of all civilisations, religions and cultures.

Sheikha Lubna said that the UAE is home for more than 200 different nationalities living and sharing one common existence peacefully and securely, as the country believes that peoples and nations need to keep connecting as a key requisite to ensuring the stability and prosperity of the world.

This came during Sheikha Lubna's participation in an event at the Gurudwara Temple in Dubai on the occasion of the International Day of Peace, which falls on 21st September each year, under the theme, "Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All".

The UAE Minister of State for Tolerance added that all members of society share responsibility to promote tolerance, coexistence, harmony, peace, respect, safety and dignity.

She stressed that the UAE is committed to the promotion and protection of human rights at home and around the world, adding that the foreign policy of the UAE is based on the principles of justice, equality, and human rights.

"The UAE places a high priority on respect for human rights in accordance with international human rights standards, and is committed to the continual improvement of its own laws and practices, based upon the country's cultural heritage and religious values, which enshrine justice, equality and tolerance," she added.

She concluded by saying, "I would like to encourage us all to work together to build more tolerant, peaceful and coexisting societies, for our present and future generations. I believe that our mission together is to incubate tolerance, peace, respect, safety and dignity as fundamental universal values and practice nurture constructive thinking, promote common coexistence and accepting the diversity of each other."
