Head of the Higher Islamic Shiite Council, Sheikh Abdul Amir Qabalan, on Thursday maintained that "we are one nation that takes its strength from God; we work for Him and we endeavor for the rights of the oppressed."

Qabalan's remarks came during the Islamic-Christian summit held in Bkerki under the chairmanship of Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rahi.

"President Michel Aoun and [Foreign Minister] Gebran Bassil represented me regarding Jerusalem," he said, stressing that summit is duty bound to act in that respect.

"Lebanon is small (..) but it is strong with its unity and its endeavor for the sake of justice," he underlined.

"Bkerki is not only for the Maronites; it is a Lebanese land where all the Lebanese are represented," he added
