WHO praises SIBF as ideal platform for global publisher interaction

Officials from the regional office of the World Health Organisation, WHO, for the Middle East have expressed their keenness to participate in the Sharjah International Book Fair on an annual basis.

The current edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair, held at the Sharjah Expo Centre, will end on 11th November 2017.

In a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, Gihan Omar Al Jaraya from the Information and Research Administration at the WHO regional office, said the Sharjah International Book Fair was an ideal platform to interact with Arab and international publishers, universities and medical specialists, as well as to present the latest medical publications of WHO, exchange views and reach out to the public.

She mentioned that the WHO pavilion at the fair included the latest publications on cancer, children’s health, public health, international health regulations and methods to use antibiotics, as well as a publication on pedestrian road safety. Al Jaraya said that the pavilion had attracted several medical specialists, university representatives, students and other interested visitors.

The WHO regional office will highlight its efforts and publications by participating in major Arab and international book fairs, including the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, Cairo International Book Fair and Frankfurt Book Fair, she added.

Al Jaraya concluded by saying that the WHO office would further cooperate with several Arab and Emirati publishers, and provide them with its publications.
