Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel Ati opened on Wednesday the second workshop for preparing the 2017-2037 national plan for managing water resources.
The ministry's leaderships and water experts attended the event.
The plan aims at increasing the current water resources and rationalizing consumption.
The minister said Egypt is facing many water challenges, referring to growing population in light of fixed Nile water quota standing at 55.5 billion cubic meters.
He also referred to climate change and pollution of waterways.
He called on the bodies concerned to rally efforts to confront these challenges.
