In keeping with its commitment to hone the skills of young women and nurture their potential in several creative fields, the Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah recently sent a delegation of aspiring young artists to La Biennale di Venezia’s international art exhibition, Biennale Arte 2017, in Venice, Italy.
This prestigious exhibition, inaugurated in 1895, is hosting its 57th edition from 13th May to 26th November and features a wide collection of artworks from different countries around the world.
Sajaya’s delegation to Venice Biennale comprised Samar Hassan, Head of the External Relations Committee for the trip; Manar Ibrahim, Head of the Internal Relations Committee for the trip; as well as some of Sajaya’s most talented members: Hind Al Osairi, Mayasa Daoud Al Ali, Mira Abdul-Rahim, Basma Khalil Al Houti, Alia Rashid Doaifis and Fatima Ali Al Qaidi.
Commenting on the occasion, Sheikha Aisha Khalid Al Qasimi, Director of Sajaya, said, "Our visit to the Venice Biennale, one of the most important events that provide a platform to the best of global contemporary arts, aligns with Sajaya’s vision and strategy to broaden the creative horizons of our young and exceptionally talented young ladies.
The main purpose of this visit was to bring them to see the artistic experiences of 120 artists representing 51 countries, which we are certain will challenge and stimulate their imaginations as one of the most effective ways of learning is through a cultural exchange. We hope these learnings will enable our young ladies to represent Sharjah in particular and the UAE in general in the arts arena at the local and international levels."
The visit provided the delegation with the opportunity to explore the Venice Biennale’s celebration of arts and interact with creative international artists representing a rich diversity of skills. They found a brilliant space within which to develop their aesthetic taste in art and treat themselves to a completely new experience.
