Abu Dhabi - Arab Today
The Zayed Giving Convoys have launched a number of innovative health and educational projects to attract the youth as part of the Zayed Giving Initiative and empower them in local and global voluntary work.
This comes in implementation of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s decision to declare 2018 as the "Year of Zayed".
Dr. Adel Al Shamri, Executive Director of the Zayed Giving Initiative, stressed the success of the Zayed Giving Convoys since its launch in 2000 as it was able to enhance the culture of voluntary and humanitarian work in Abu Dhabi and various countries across the world. This was made possible through innovative ideas and programmes, which have become a distinctive example to be followed by governments and private institutions, he added.
He further informed that more than seven million children and elderly have benefited from the Zayed Giving Initiative, carried out in partnership with Dar Al Bar Association, Sharjah Charity House and the Saudi-German Hospitals Group, under the supervision of the UAE Volunteering Programme. He reiterated that thousands of youth have participated in the Zayed Giving Convoys’ local and international programmes in its previous phases.
