Jordanian expert of internet culture Hana Al Ramly said that a large number of people across the world turned to use the internet to search for the medical information, saying that it is considered one of the major results of the availability of confidential websites performing a major role to increase the medical awareness.
She added, in an interview with “Arabs Today”, that there are also a number of unknown websites that work to deceive the patients to market unlicensed drugs. She stressed the need for directing the patients to the right websites to take the right information, warning of the dangerous results of the use of wrong websites.
She called the people not to use any website as a source of medical information adding that they should check the websites they use and the sources of information. She added that the websites should be related to a recognized medical institution to be a source of information.
She stressed the need for not depending on only one site to take medical information, adding that the patients should compare between the information they receive from different websites before taking their advices. She added that they should depend on English websites which provide the sources of their information.
She warned of fully dependence on the medical information provided on the forums and social media networks, saying that most of them come from unconfident sources. She stressed that such information come upon personal experiences and should not be dependent.
