Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston spoke wonders of her acclaimed new film Cake during her appearance on Deadline's "Contenders" panel on Saturday.
The 45-year-old actress has been consistently praised by critics for her performance as Claire Simmons in the indie drama, so much so, that both she and the film are believed to be contenders for an Academy Award nomination.
"It's our little love project. When I read the script, I was ready to disappear," Aniston told attendees at the event.
Unlike her usual roles in Hollywood blockbusters, for Cake, Aniston underwent a makeunder to channel Simmons, a scarred car-crash survivor who makes an unlikely friend at her support group. The actress said at the panel being without her usual makeup was "so fabulous—so dreamy and empowering and liberating."
"The only time I had to sit in the makeup chair was just for the scars," she shared.

Director Daniel Barnz's Cake received a standing ovation after it premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September. Barnz has said Aniston was "the most obvious un-obvious choice" for the part because "she's mega-talented, but we've never seen the whole range of her extraordinary comic and dramatic abilities showcased in one role."
Cake also stars Anna Kendrick, Misty Upham and Sam Worthington.
