Hany Shaker has told Arabstoday he is elated after being honoured by the French embassy on the back of critical acclaim for new release, My Darling Homeland. “I was very happy once I got the honour,” he said. “I didn’t expect it at all.” Shaker recently produced his latest operetta at Cairo’s Egyptian Opera House, describing it as an “invitation to love Egypt.”
