Joni Mitchell

Court documents filed in April, not long after Mitchell's hospitalization, listed the singer and one-time model as "unconscious and unable to make any responses." Rumors that she was in coma spread over the Internet, but an official statement squashed the notion not long after.

"Contrary to rumors circulating on the Internet today, Joni is not in a coma," the statement read. "Joni is still in the hospital -- but she comprehends, she's alert, and she has her full senses. A full recovery is expected."

Mitchell, along with Crosby, Neil Young and others, was a mainstay of the California folk rock scene in the 1960s and 70s.

"I love her. She was my old lady at one point," Crosby said. "She's probably the best of us -- probably the greatest living singer-songwriter. ... We're all holding our breath and thinking a good thought, hoping that it's going to turn out okay."
