Cairo – Khaled Ali
The Egyptian actress Mariam Fakhreddine said she is doesn\'t support the segment of Egyptian society who hope that the former Egyptian president will be sentenced to execution by the court on Saturday morning citing that she hopes he will be sentenced to imprisonment. The former president of Egypt Hosni Mubarak is accused along with some of his military chiefs, of conspiring to kill demonstrators during last year\'s uprising. Mariam said in a statement to Arabstoday: “I don\'t believe in the execution of Mubarak, despite my strong dislike for him, as ever since he began his rule, he has lied. When asked to elaborate on that statement she referrred back to October 1981 when President Anwar Sadat was assassinated: “When Mubarak appeared on TV after taking over the presidency, his arm was wrapped in gauze as if he wanted to show the world that he tried to defend the former President Anwar Sadat during the assassination, which I did not believe at the time, as Mubarak was not sitting beside him so how could he be injured?! This affirms his lying and claiming heroism at the expense of the late President Anwar Sadat.” The court announced Saturday that former president Hosni Mubarak has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
