19-year-old protester killed and 3 people injured when mobs clashed with security forces

A 19-year-old protester was killed and three people injured when mobs clashed with security forces in India-administered Kashmir on Saturday.

Local police said soldiers fired on stone-throwing demonstrators in the Narbal area of state capital Srinagar.

The protests in the Muslim-majority region came in response to the arrest of separatist leader Masrat Alam on Friday.

Shops and businesses were closed in Srinagar and nearby towns in response to an anti-India strike call by separatist leaders.
