US-led coalition against ISIL carried out airstrikes on 27 targets in Syria and Iraq on Sunday and Monday, inflicting further damage to the terrorist group, Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) said in a statement.
In Syria, bomber, fighter, and drone aircraft carried out 10 airstrikes on ISIL targets. Nine were near Ain Al-Arab, Kobane, where they "struck three large ISIL tactical units, five ISIL tactical units and destroyed six ISIL staging areas and an ISIL vehicle," and one was near Deir az Zour, where it "struck an ISIL checkpoint," CJTF-OIR affirmed.
Meanwhile in Iraq, the US and its partners conducted 17 airstrikes using attack, fighter, and drone aircraft.
The strikes hit targets near Al Asad, where one "struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL mortar position and one ISIL fighting position," near Huwaijah, where another "struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL fighting position," near Al Rutbah, where one airstrike "struck an ISIL tactical unit." Near Kirkuk, the coalition carried out "three airstrikes struck two ISIL tactical units and destroyed two ISIL fighting positions, an ISIL vehicle, an ISIL tactical vehicle, one ISIL bunker, and three ISIL earth movers." near Baiji, "one airstrike struck an ISIL tactical unit," near Sinjar, where another "struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL building," near Tal Afar, where "an airstrike destroyed an ISIL weapons storage facility." Meanwhile near Fallujah, "four airstrikes struck an ISIL tactical unit, one ISIL vehicle and destroyed eight ISIL vehicles," near Haditha "two airstrikes destroyed an ISIL fighting position and one ISIL vehicle," and finally near Mosul, where "two airstrikes destroyed an ISIL fighting position and an ISIL vehicle," CJTF-OIR said.
The statement did not specify which partner nations took part in this round of airstrikes, and typically does not reveal the number of casualties, if any.
