The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Tuesday that it "closely" follows up the British investigation into the death of an Egyptian citizen who died in hospital after he was found in a burnt car at a garage in London.
The body of Sherif Adel Habib, 21, was found at a garage in South Hall in London, and the Egyptian consul immediately contacted Habib's father and headed together to the hospital where they knew he had died upon arrival, the Foreign Ministry's spokesman said.
"Egyptian Consul in London, Ambassador Alaa Youssef, is following up the investigation run by the British police to find out the reasons for the accident," said the statement, noting the consulate will provide all necessary assistance to the victim's family members.
Some British media said the Egyptian young man was rescued from the car garage in London that collapsed due to a massive fire, but he breathed his last in a nearby hospital due to serious burns.
The reason for the fire is still under investigation.
