Some 27 extremist settlers early Wednesday stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram al-Sharif compound, in the occupied holy city of Jerusalem, entering through the Bab Al-Magharebah gate.

The Islamic Awqaf Department in Jerusalem said in a statement that the settlers stormed the Muslim's holy shrine and performed their Talmudic rites under the protection of Israeli forces.

The statement also revealed that a group of Israeli intelligence personnel also broke into the Marwani Mosque in the Al-Haram al-Sharif .
