Groups of extremist settlers on Wednesday stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram al-Sharif compound, in the occupied holy city of Jerusalem, entering through the Bab Al-Magharebah gate.

A statement by the Islamic Awqaf Department in Jerusalem said that the settlers broke into the compound and performed their Talmudic rites under the protection of Israeli occupation forces.

Israeli forces confiscated Muslim worshipers identity cards and banned many others from entering the holy shrine, the statement added.
